Family life can be pretty hectic sometimes.

Last week my grandfather fell terribly ill. Everyone was frantic with worry, especially my little sister. She had always had a close relationship with my granpa, so this was pretty hard for her.

Grandpa is already a recovering cancer patient and he is also diabetic, so this new illness wasn't doing him any favours. My mum and grandma didn't say much on it, I guess they were just trying to be strong for us. Dad explained things to us and said that both of us had to be told the truth despite how painful it may be. He said that by rights we should have lost him from the cancer and that maybe this time he wouldn't be so lucky.

Although I too was worried, I didn't believe a word that my dad said. I knew that grandpa would make it through. He had survived during the war, he had come out of a car crash without a scratch and he had pulled through the cancer with high spirits. Grandpa was a surviver and a fighter, and I knew that no matter what anybody said, he would come out on top!

And I was right! After 3 days of being in the hospital, he was fighting fit again and was allowed to come home.

It's like I've always told everyone about my grandpa, he is old in body but young in spirit!
